Iron Man wears a powerful suit of armor that gives him superpowers. The armor acts as a kind of protective exoskeleton, gives Iron Man great physical strength and allows him to fly at very high speeds. According to the canon, Iron Man fused the armour to his body using a special virus.
Behind Iron Man's armorr is a businessman: Tony Stark. Before acquiring superpowers, Stark was a talented student who graduated in engineering and physics at only 17 years old and then a famous inventor, businessman and tycoon.
It is said that Tony Stark built his own armor after being captured and imprisoned in Vietnam. He built it together with another prisoner to free himself and once, he returned home, continued to develop and improve the armor.
Iron Man's main offensive weapon is the beams he can fire from the gloves of his armour. Over the years, Iron Man has also developed and worn various special armours such as armour for diving and armour for moving through space.
Iron Man was conceived by Stan Lee and first appeared in Marvel's Tales of Suspense comic book in 1963. In 1968 he got the first magazine dedicated only to him: The Invincible Iron Man.
